Based on the exhibition curated by Griselda Pollock at the Freud Museum in 2009, this is a major study of the event-encounter that was created by Bracha Ettinger with both the traces of both Sigmund and Anna Freud , drawing strings across the traumatic histories of the twentieth century created by notebooks, objects, paintings and photographs. Reading the event ‘afterwardly’ Pollock explores the artworking of the artist in the Freud Museum and the entry of this event into cultural memory. Reversing the volume offers a ‘virtual’, photographic work of photographs taken by the artist and others of the emplacement of works, objects, books that constituted the overall intervention : its resonance, overlay and interweave.
